Hands on series; Drew from Calligrafikas

Working with your hands is one of the most satisfying things I can think of, whether it's ceramics, photography, textile design… anything that takes you away from the screen & keyboard. Anything that gets your fingers tingling.

We have teamed up with some talented designers\makers from around the world to show off their handy work and asked them to share with us what they love about working hands on.

First up is Drew from Calligrafikas, a calligrapher & letterer who offers modern freehand calligraphy services.

  • How would you describe your work?

My work is combination of free flow painting, sometimes leaning towards to more abstract pieces and a lot of brush letterings. I can say that the common denominator of all of them is the colors that I am using. I am all for bright, very vivid and luminous colors that whenever you see them they give an instant happy feeling :)

    • What's the best part about working with your hands?

The best part about it is that feeling of giving out very organic work that is very uniquely you.

Drew from Calligrafikas uses our cotton knit gloves to prevent smudging while working of her illustrations. And sometimes to just keep ward when it is cold.

The inspiration for this mini series started while working on making our fingerless gloves; keeping our fingers free to create but adding a little warmth. You can find all of gloves here.
